This course is a comprehensive two day course based upon the IET Code of Practice - “In - Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment - 5th Edition”. Introducing basic electrical science to ensure that the candidate has a basis of understanding in relation to appliance energy levels and the information provided by the manufacturers appliance lable. Types of appliance construction class and how the user is protected against electric shock in the event of the appliance developing an electrical fault. Procedural guidance is given during the course as well as Statutory Legislation surrounding the requirements of appliance inspection and testing. There are two examinable parts at the conclusion of the course. a). A practical assessment of the student’s ability to test equipment as directed by the assessor and record the test results obtained. Students may use their own test equipment providing that it is suitably calibrated and a certificate of calibration is available for inspection, or the test equipment will be provided by the test centre which the equipment will be calibrated. b). A on-line multiple choice computer based exam, comprising of fifty questions with a time limit of 1 hr 45 mins. (105 minutes). Exam results are available after the on-line exam is completed. BS7671: 2018 + Amd 2024 is the definitive book for all electrical personnel who require a knowledge of the IET Wiring Regulations and design criteria for the safe installation of circuits. This publication is backed by eight Guidance Notes, each book relates to a relevant section within BS 7671, however the course only relates to the Regulations Book. Participants must be over the age of 18 yrs to join the course and should be employed within the Electrical industry. A copy of BS 7671 is a necessity for both the course and exam (See photograph), the exam is sixty questions multiple choice computer based, with a two hour duration. results of the outcome of the exam are available after completion. Courses are three days for candidates who have not previously obtained their 18th edition certificate, or one day for candidates who wish to update their knowledge from the 17th edition to 18th edition. BS 7671 is due to have the 4th amendment published during 2026, after reading the draft publication there may be some extra sections and updating of the technical requirements of the regulations themselves. This will usually result in a update exam.

City and Guilds have split this 2391 Inspection and Testing course into three separate courses: 2391-50 for Electrical Installations (New Installations) 2391-51 for Periodic Inspection and Testing (Existing Installations) 2391-52 Combined course embracing both New and existing Installations. For any of the above courses the candidate will need a copy of BS 7671 and Guidance Note 3 which is required for the course, exam and assessment. Which ever course the candidate decides to embark upon, there is a short 4 question written answer exam, multiple choice computer exam and a practical assessment. This City and Guilds 2396 course -Design, Erection and Verification of Electrical Installations - is a Level 4 presentation, and requires the student to be dilligent in the design etc of the given project, this project take time and persistence to complete to the satisfaction of the Examiner and Assessors. Besides the project design there is a three hour written exam, which is open book. This written exam is available three times per year March, June and December. This course covers Overview of charging equipment, Prior to installation requirments, The actual installation requirments, Electrical requirments including the type of earthing systems and their pitfalls. Installations in dwellings, On-street and car park installations. Dangers of Petrol filling station installations. Vehicle as storage etc. Cable installation design. Installation and Maintenance of Small Solar Photovoltaic Systems
This 3 day course is designed for electricians who are already installing Solar PV systems and wish to expand their knowledge, from just installing to understanding the the theory and practical design of PV installations. There is a practical assessment and an on-line exam which is open book, both of which the candidate must be successful in the outcome. 2923-34 Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation and Commissioning of Small Electrical Energy Storage Systems
This stand alone course is usually combined with the solar PV course (2922-34), usually batteries are incorporated in the complete design of the system. A course of approximatley 15 hours as well as an on-line knowledge test and the practical element of commissioning a small electrical energy storage system. There is a minimum qualification entry for this course, see: theiet.org Proof of competence must be provided upon registeration for the course.

Entry requirments This course is intended for practicing electricians as part of the assessment for this qualificatio, learners MUST hold one of the following: 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems & Equipment (Buildings, structure & the environment). 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance). 5357 Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification. 5398 Level 3 Electrotechnical in dwellings. 2356 Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services experienced worker. 2346 Level 3 Electrotechnical experienced worker qualification. Other awarding organisations will also be acceptable Equivalent historical qualifications (see EAS Table 4B/4C). or ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card.
